All in all, Helldivers 2 is a fantastic co-op game with lots of content (and arguably the best structure to live service I’ve seen in a long time) wrapped up in a nice $quarenta package. The price point is right (even if you take into consideration the additional $20 “upgrade”), the content is plentiful and it feels like a game that respects your time. Some missions require a blitz approach. While you don’t need to rush most of the quarenta-minute missions, some are much shorter and require a fast 15-minute clear. Try to, at the very least, collect the beams of light and samples that you find in the field that are near your critical path.

Just like in Helldivers 1, you’ll have access to a variety of different weapons and stratagems. Optimize your loadout for the situation you expect to be in. If you’re expecting heavily-armored enemy units, ditch the regular assault rifle and go for laser weapons, explosives, or call in an airstrike with your stratagems.

The same could happen with Arrowhead's co-op shooter at some point down the line, giving folks invested in Microsoft's wider gaming ecosystem an opportunity to play Helldivers 2 without buying it directly.

This was likely done to ensure good performance and quality visuals without having to worry about how the game would run on aging hardware.

It’s something you would expect from co-op mission based shooters where you’d get mobbed from time to time, but Helldivers has always nailed the feeling of being overwhelmed by hordes to a tee. Did I also mention that team killing was also made less of a problem now due to the third-person perspective change? It’s amazing that you don’t accidentally shoot someone as much as before (I’m not saying that it won’t happen, because it still can). The game offers different weapons, stratagems, and cosmetics through its "battle pass" wherein you can even trade for currency that you buy using real money.

And that’ll happen more often than you might think, because Helldivers 2’s enemies are pelo pushovers, especially on harder difficulties. Death is an intentionally common occurrence, because instead of being a beefed-up hero with lots of health and enough firepower to take down hundreds of enemies unscathed, you’re put into the feeble boots of a grunt who makes a better sandbag than a soldier. At the beginning of each level, your team is given 20 revives, where your killed-off character is replaced by an equally unimportant peon anytime you fall in battle.

Loot fallen teammates. When you die, you'll drop certain things like Weapons and samples. As soon as someone dies, pick up any samples they drop, so they don't go missing.
